Bunnings Port Augusta

OVERVIEW

A major hardware run once meant a long drive for the communities of Port Augusta, Whyalla, Port Pirie, Quorn and Mount Remarkable. The all-new 5,000-square-metre Bunnings store in Port Augusta changes that.

OBJECTIVE

Hart was engaged to provide safe, practical access across a pitched roof to HVAC equipment and solar panels for ongoing maintenance. Visible elements were to be powdercoated Bunnings green to meet the brand’s colour specification.

OUTCOME

Getting up to and across the roof is now safe and straightforward, with ladders, guardrails and walkways routed to the HVAC equipment and solar panels. Walkways running across the pitch are levelled to give a flat, even footing. Where they run with the pitch, they are fitted with cleats, providing additional grip for safe walking up and down the slope. Visible guardrails and ladders were powdercoated Bunnings green, so the safety system complements the building rather than competing with it.

The complete roof access system included:

  • Roof access hatch
  • Guardrails, powdercoated Bunnings green
  • Parapet ladder, powdercoated Bunnings green
  • EWP access point
  • Aluminium roof walkway
